The Rivers State Police Command has arrested three suspects who allegedly attacked the Community Development Committee Chairman of Okana in Abua Central in the Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State. The suspects were arrested following a complaint by the victim, identified as Christian Ediegene, who reported the matter at one of its stations in the area. Narrating his ordeal in a voice note to journalists, the CDC chairman said he met the suspects mounting pillars on his farmland, and when he inquired what they were doing, they attacked him with machetes, which caused him several injuries. At about 7am on 29th June, 2025, I was going to my farm, a group of boys ambushed me, macheted me on my head, shoulder and on the hand," he explained. After they left, I had to force myself to the main road because where it happened was very close to the road. My community people came and took me to the police station in Abua Central (Rivers community). For now, I am demanding justice. I heard the police have arrested some of them. I was unconscious but now, I am recovering. At least I can talk a little. He said he was still in shock as he had yet to ascertain the reason the youths attacked him. The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident, said the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department for a discreet probe. She said the suspects were identified as Young Ezekiel, Isiah a.k.a Olito and Onyekachi Paul, adding that operatives are on the trail of the others who fled. Yes, I can confirm the incident. Three of them have been arrested and the matter has been transferred to the State CID. The CDC Chairman said they assaulted him by giving him machete cuts on his head, back and hand which caused him harm, she added.
