A Nigerian man suspected of k!lling a 17-year-old, Lisa in Abcoude, the Netherlands refused to speak at the opening hearing of his trial in Amsterdam on Tuesday, November 25, as prosecutors presented extensive evidence against him. Chris Jude, a presumed 22-year-old Nigerian asylum seeker without documents, told officials he is unsure of his exact age and identity, DutchNews reported. On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Lisa left the centre of Amsterdam around 3:30AM after a night out with friends, and was cycling back home to the nearby town of Abcoude. After she noticed someone was following her, the teenage girl called the national emergency number. Prosecutors said camera and phone data show the suspect followed Lisa around 4am near Duivendrecht, pushed her into the verge and then into a ditch. She managed to ring the emergency number 112 and said the attacker had cycled away. Moments later, dispatchers heard screams. The department believes the suspect returned minutes later and st@bbed her with a kitchen knife, which was later recovered from a locker at the asylum seekers centre where he was staying. DNA from the suspect was found on Lisas body and on her belongings recovered nearby. Jude was initially arrested a day after the m8rder in connection with an earlier r@pe, but prosecutors say it quickly became clear he was also responsible for Lisas d3ath. He had used the same black bike with a white front fork in both incidents and his DNA was found on both victims. Jude, who calls himself Desmond, says he cannot remember what happened. He does not deny it, but says he cannot recall certain periods and hears voices in his head, the prosecutor said. His lawyer, Emile van Reydt, told the court: Those voices sometimes tell him to do things, especially at night. He cannot remember what he did or what the voices said. The suspect will be admitted to the Pieter Baan psychiatric clinic for assessment. The case resumes in February 2026. Today is an intensely emotional day for us, the family said in a written statement. The loss of Lisa is immense. The support of our loved ones and everyone thinking of us gives us great strength."
