Nnamdi Kanu to appeal life imprisonment judgment

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, will challenge the life imprisonment and additional sentences imposed on him by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, according to his former lawyer and consultant, Aloy Ejimakor. Kanu received life sentences on counts one, two, four, five and six, a 20-year term on count three without the option of a fine, and a further five years on count seven, also without the option of a fine. Ejimakor, speaking to journalists after the ruling, confirmed that the legal team plans to take the case to a higher court. We are heading to appeal, he said.
