Two arrested for st@bbing policeman to de@th in Ondo



Police in Ondo State have arrested two men,  25-year-old Shina Jacob and 32-year-old Felix Olalekan, for allegedly st@bbbinh a police officer to death in Akure, the state capital. The spokesperson for the Ondo Police Command, Olusola Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a statement issued to journalists. According to him, the confrontation occurred on Wednesday morning when the officer, who was carrying out his lawful duties, became involved in an altercation with a group of recalcitrant individuals. During the clash, the officer was stabbed and later died from his injuries. Ayanlade said police operatives were immediately deployed to the scene. Acting swiftly, the Commissioner of Police deployed a team of operatives to the scene, resulting in the arrest of two suspects directly connected to the incident, he stated. He identified the suspects as Shina Jacob, 25, and Felix Olalekan, 32. The injured officer was rushed to the hospital but despite all efforts, the police inspector sadly passed away while receiving treatment. Ayanlade warned that the command will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone who attacks police personnel. The Command reiterates that it will not tolerate any form of human rights abuse by its officers, just as it will deal decisively with anyone who assaults or attacks police officers in the course of their lawful duties, he said. He added that the suspects will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
