"We believe that justice will be served" - Nigerian lecturer marks posthumous birthday of colleague allegedly kidnapped and m8rdered by his friends



A Nigerian lecturer, Edet Ekanem, has marked the posthumous birthday of a colleague, Ubong Friday John, who was allegedly m8rdered by two friends in Akwa Ibom. Late John was a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, Obong University, Obong Ntak, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.  "Posthumous Birthday Celebration! Otuekong Udemsandco John, you would have been a year older today. But your friends Sylvanus Effiong Asukwo and Solomon Boniface Okon conspired, kidnapped and m8rdered you. Your m8rderers are standing trial in the court. We believe that justice will be served. Adieu dear!," Ekanem wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday, November 22, 2025. The suspects who are currently facing trial, confessed that they lured John to a secluded place, kidnapped him, and subsequently k!lled him.  It was gathered that the m8rder was related to a business dispute involving rice importation and debt recovery.  According to Mr, Ekanem, John left his home at Uyo on Sunday, 16th July 2023 after informing his wife that he was going to his village in Ukwok, Ini Local Government Area.
