A 14-year-old boy was among the four people shot de@d for being in the "wrong place at the wrong time" at a child's birthday party. Amari Peterson's family has described the atrocity as "an unimaginable tragedy" as they desperately try to come to terms of the mass shooting at the banquet hall in Stockton, California. Amari was one of three children k!lled by the gunman, who is still on the run, at a two-year-old's birthday bash, which more than 100 friends and relatives attended on Saturday, Nov. 29. Gunfire erupted just as the group were about to cut the birthday cake, the mother of the birthday girl said. It is unclear if Amari was related to the celebrant or a friend of the family.
His aunt, Aresha Mosley, wrote, on a GoFundMe page designed as a tribute to Amari and to help cover funeral costs, how the teenager was a "sweet" child into sports. She said: "Amari was a football player, a basketball player, a brother, son, and cousin. He was making plans and looking into colleges of choice... The only mistake this sweet boy made was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was simply being a kid at a kids party." The birthday girl was injured in the horror and 11 other people were also wounded. In all, four people were k!lled at the party. Apart from Amari, three others d!ed, including two other children as young as eight. Police have appealed for information to help trace the shooter or shooters and said they would even welcome rumours. Ms Mosley said her family are desperate for answers. She added: "No parent should ever have to bury their child. No family should ever go from planning birthdays to planning funerals... Right now, Amaris parents and loved ones need support, strength, and love as a community and as human beings." She described Amari, a gifted baseball player, as "a bright, loved, and promising young soul whose life was taken far too soon by a senseless act of violence. Photographs of the boy were also shared on the public website, including photos of Amari playing his beloved baseball and one of the boy alongside relatives. Speaking in the wake of the horror, the birthday girl's mum, Patrice Williams, said: "It was just unexpected. I dont know what happened, and Im just so shocked and lost... They deserve to be in jail. They deserve to go to hell. Im sorry, but I just ... its not respectable. Its a kids' party."
