FG confirms US strikes on ISIS terrorists in Northwest Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has confirmed that it engaged and cooperated with the United States to carry out military airstrikes against SIS terrorists in the countrys North West region. In a statement issued Friday morning by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government said the action resulted from ongoing intelligence collaboration and strategic coordination with partners. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria confirms that Nigerian authorities remain engaged in structured security cooperation with international partners, including the United States of America, in addressing the persistent threat of terrorism and violent extremism. This has led to precision hits on terrorist targets in Nigeria by airstrikes in the North West," the statement said. "In line with established international practice and bilateral understandings, this cooperation includes the exchange of intelligence, strategic coordination, and other forms of support consistent with international law, mutual respect for sovereignty, and shared commitments to regional and global security," it added. The statement reaffirmed that Nigerias counterterrorism actions prioritize the protection of civilians, the preservation of national unity, and the respect for the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of religion or ethnicity. Terrorism in any form directed against any community is an affront to Nigerias values and undermines international peace and security, it said. "The Federal Government continues to work closely with its partners through established diplomatic and security channels to weaken terrorist networks, disrupt their financing and logistics, and prevent cross-border threats, while strengthening Nigerias own security institutions and intelligence capabilities," it said. The ministry added that it will continue to engage in contact with "relevant partners and keep the public informed through appropriate official channels."     View this post on Instagram           A post shared by Lindaikejiblog (@lindaikejiblogofficial)  The statement comes after US President Donald Trump had on Thursday announced his directive for the Department of War to carry out unprecedented and deadly strikes on ISIS terrorists killing innocent Christians in Nigeria. In his post on Truth Social late Thursday, Trump said that under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper. The post FG confirms US strikes on ISIS terrorists in Northwest Nigeria appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
