Former presidential aspirant, Pat Utomi slams "crude" police extortion along road as he recounts his journey from Lagos to Asaba

Pat Utomi, a former presidential aspirant, has recounted his journey from Lagos to Asaba which lasted for longer than it should have due to multiple factors. Utomi blamed bad roads and crude police extortion for making him spend 15 hours on the road for a journey that should have taken way less time. He wrote on X: "My car left Lagos at  5am. It has just arrived Asaba after 8pm. It had no breakdowns. It made Benin  at 10.30. That was a 3hour drive in the 80s. But the real news is that it took 6hours to cross Benin. From police trying to extort money to terribly bad roads detty Dec got dirty. The police extortions were beyond crude: like why are you in Edo with Lagos license plate.
