A young singer was electrocuted by his microphone in front of shocked audience during a live performance in Peru. Carlos Suarez was preparing to perform with his rock band Mi Mejor Amigo Scott when he suffered an electric shock while grabbing the mic, causing him to collapse to the ground in agony. The horrific moment was captured on social media showing Suarez fall back onto the stage as his screams rang out inside the packed bar.

According to local outlet Buenos Das Per, the 21-year-old appeared paralysed on the stage floor for several seconds as sparks flew from the bands equipment. He then began to writher around while crying for help. The crowd could be heard in the video shouting, The current, the current. Two men, believed to be a sound technician and a member of another band, rushed to the stage to unplug the equipment. Suarez, who is the lead singer of the band and affectionately known as Mono (Monkey), was then rushed to hospital and treated for first-degree burns. Despite the near-de@th experience, he later took to Instagram to reassure fans he was on the road to recovery. I went through a very traumatic situation and came close to losing my life, he said in Spanish in the clip. What happened could have had fatal consequences. But I am OK health wise. I have a couple of burns on my neck but no other complications thankfully. Sporting a bandage on his neck, the singer explained that when he plugged his guitar into the amplifier and reached for the mic, he received an electric shock that paralysed me for about seven seconds.

All I could do was scream and fall to the floor, where I continued to be electrocuted, he shared. That was when the microphone fell onto my neck and caused two first-degree burns, which fortunately were superficial, which is why my neck is bandaged and Im taking medication. But Im pleased to say that apart from the burns to my neck, I am in good health, I am stable, and I have no complications in my body. I was conscious throughout and although I was in shock, I was able to get back up onto my feet afterwards. The young singer said he would be taking a break from live performances until further notice while he recovers from his injuries. Watch video below.
