As investigators dug deeper, they found that Burns had been linked to Patriotic Alternative, a far-right organisation led by Mark Collett. They also recovered a number of disturbing items from her possession, including a scalpel, darts, and an axe, which she had bought with the intention of killing Mahmoodi. In the days leading up to the attack, Burns had written some truly disturbing messages, including "Land is reclaimed through terror Better if they flee out of fear," clearly indicating her twisted motivations.
