Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to turn his words into action. Atiku's appeal comes in the wake of a weekend of violence that claimed lives in several states, including Jos, Kaduna, and Benue. In a statement released today, Atiku referenced a promise the President made to grieving family members of victims in Jos, promising that the devastating attack would not be repeated.
However, just 48 hours later, a new wave of violence swept across the country, affecting multiple states, including Plateau, Kaduna, Katsina, Benue, and Nasarawa. Atiku is urging the President to roll up his sleeves and take concrete steps to address the situation. "I wish to remind President Bola Tinubu to keep to his words that this (Angwan Rukuba attack) will not repeat itself," Atiku said. "It seems those words were hollow, as another attack in Benue State claimed over a dozen lives just 72 hours later."
Atiku is concerned about the failure of the President to protect the lives and property of citizens, pointing out that the primary responsibility of government is to ensure the welfare and safety of its people.
