Iran's Top Spy Chief Falls in Joint US-Israel Operation
A major development in the escalating tensions between Iran and its adversaries has unfolded, with Iran's top intelligence official meeting a fatal end in a joint operation carried out by the US and Israel. According to a statement released by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Majid Khademi was killed in an attack that took place at dawn on April 6. The IRGC characterized Khademi as "one of those directly responsible" for attacks on Israeli citizens and identified him as one of the IRGC's three most senior figures.
The situation took a dramatic turn just days prior, when US President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran on April 4, giving Tehran 48 hours to "make a deal or open up the Hormuz Strait," warning that failure to comply would result in severe consequences. Trump's deadline was later mentioned in an Easter Sunday social media post, where he hinted at an imminent military operation. The post read: "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***in Strait, you crazy b******s, or you'll be living in Hell, JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah." He later clarified the timing of the operation in a follow-up post, specifying that it would occur on Tuesday at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
