The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, has made significant strides in combating crime with the recent arrest of seven suspects linked to multiple cases of murder, armed robbery, and cultism. According to DSP Afolayan Gbenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, the breakthrough was achieved following a credible intelligence received by detectives attached to the Zonal Intelligence Department (ZID).
The investigation began with the arrest of 23-year-old Fawas Opeyemi Alarape, also known as Karube, on March 3, 2026. Further intelligence from the suspect led to a targeted raid on a criminal hideout known as Lions Den in Orile Iganmu, Lagos, resulting in the arrest of five additional suspects. Another suspect was apprehended at White Sand, also in Orile Iganmu. The suspects, aged between 22 and 33, have been identified as Soliu Ahmed, Oluwaseun Bolarinwa, Bamidele Mustapha, Abass Abideen, Salisu Ali, and Atanda Lukmon.
During the raid, exhibits were recovered, including a locally made cut-to-size shotgun, four cutlasses, a knife, a claw hammer, live and expended cartridges, and various charms. In the course of interrogation, Fawas Opeyemi Alarape confessed to involvement in the murder of Ikujowolo, a tricycle rider who was robbed and shot dead in Surulere, Lagos. The suspect implicated others, including Ahmed Oladele, who is currently at large.
The suspects have also confessed to the murders of Olumide Adegbite, Kehinde Shuaibu, and Monday Okoro, all of whom were killed in the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos state. The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations for multiple cases of murder, armed robbery, stealing, cultism, unlawful possession of firearms, and criminal conspiracy.
The arrest of these suspects is a testament to the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety.
