A video of the Controller-General of Nigeria's Federal Fire Service, Olumode Adeyemi, has been making waves on social media after it was shared of his lavish convoy making its way through his home state of Kogi. The video, which quickly went viral, showcases a long procession of red emergency vehicles, including Toyota pickups, SUVs, outrider motorcycles, and support vans, all moving along both highways and local roads. Adding an extra layer of security, the convoy was also escorted by men in black suits and red ties guarding a red SUV as it slowed down to arrive at a crowded event venue.
As it turns out, the Fire Service boss was heading to a thanksgiving celebration, where he was greeted with cheers from locals who had gathered to honor him following his appointment in July 2025. However, the opulent display of the convoy has sparked a lot of controversy among Nigerians, with many expressing their disapproval on social media. Many are criticizing Olumode Adeyemi for traveling in such a large and extravagant convoy, especially when it's well known that many fire stations across the country are struggling with outdated and non-functional vehicles.
