Trouble Erupted on Easter Sunday in Port Harcourt
In a shocking turn of events, a romantic dispute between rival cult groups in Rivers State has left one young man dead. The incident occurred on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, in the Mile 1 Axiz of Diobu, Port Harcourt, where factions of the Deybam cult group clashed in a violent confrontation along Abakiliki Street.
Eyewitnesses claim that the violence was sparked by a dispute over a young woman in the area, with members of the Doggies and White Eagles factions of the Deybam cult group battling for territorial control and the attention of the woman. The situation quickly escalated, resulting in a rampage that left one member of the rival faction dead.
According to reports, the victim had stopped to buy bread at a nearby shop when he was ambushed by gunmen who arrived in a vehicle and opened fire on him. The shooting caused widespread panic in the neighbourhood, with residents and passersby fleeing for safety.
Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and revealed that a manhunt had been launched to track down the perpetrators. She attributed the killing to an intra-cult clash among members of a group in Diobu.
