A Yobe State man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for child abuse allegations.
Rabilu Sani, 22, was found guilty of the offense in a Magistrate Court in Injiyaji, Damaturu. According to reports, Sani was arrested on November 9, 2025, and charged to court after an investigation. He was accused of luring a 4-year-old girl into a room and committing the offense last year.
Meanwhile, the court confirmed that the offense was proven and convicted Sani, sentencing him to 12 years imprisonment without the option of a fine. Additionally, medical tests revealed that Sani is not infected with HIV, a crucial aspect of the case.
The Yobe State Government, led by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Ya Jalo Badama, played a key role in seeking justice for the victim. The case went through months of legal proceedings in court before the verdict was reached.
