People of Okere Urhobo kingdom Warri , Delta state , have dismissed as untrue , publication in some national newspapers that they rejected the report of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on the ward re delineation in Warri, insisting that they were yet to make any formal comment on the exercise by the electoral body.
At the palace of His Royal Majesty Ogheneochuko Moris Eyepimi-Egbobonyen Owhotemu II Orosuen of Okere Urhobo kingdom, Warri, Chiefs John Edgor, Femi Okumagba, Frank Okolobe and the Youth President of the kingdom, Hon Eboh Okpako Elvis said at no time did the kingdom authorize any publication saying they rejected the INEC’s field report on the ward re delineation in Warri.
” We received the report of the ward re-delineation exercise by INEC, we are studying it. The commission gave all ethnic groups a seven-day window to look at it and make their comments. The seven days have not elapsed. We will speak on the document as Okere Urhobo kingdom Warri after we have looked at the document critically”, they said.
” Those behind the publication that the Okere Urhobo kingdom rejected the delineation exercise did not speak for the kingdom and never had the authority of the kingdom to say so “, Chief Edgor stressed.
“I represented Okere Urhobo kingdom, Warri and Agbara kingdom Warri at the INEC briefing in Asaba. And I received the INEC’s document for the two kingdoms. We will study the documents and respond at the appropriate time. The seven days have not elapsed “, he added.
Continuing, he said Okere Urhobo kingdom would not come out to reject a report they were still looking at very critically.
Other leaders of Okere Urhobo kingdom Warri who also spoke include Chiefs Lawrence Akpoveso, Louis Eboh and Comrade Emurabobo Eburu, former youth president of Okere Urhobo kingdom. They emphasized it that the kingdom did not reject the INEC’s exercise as reported in the media. ” We have not responded to the INEC’s delineation exercise in Warri. We did not reject the INEC report. We are still studying it, this must be stressed”, Emurabobo said.
