Sean Diddy Combs has officially begun serving his federal prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, where he is expected to spend the next two and a half years. According to law enforcement sources, the music mogul was transferred to the low-security federal correctional institution early Thursday morning and began the check-in process shortly after arrival. This move follows Judge Arun Subramanians sentencing of Diddy to 50 months in prison, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons approving his request to serve time at Fort Dix. Diddys legal team said the facility was chosen because it would allow him to address drug abuse issues, maximize family visitation, and focus on rehabilitation during his sentence. The rapper and entrepreneur had been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn since September 2024, following his arrest and denial of bail pending trial. The conditions at MDC, known for overcrowding and violence, were said to be far harsher than those at Fort Dix. Despite the downgrade in security level, Diddys attorney Mark Geragos warned that his client could still face danger behind bars. Speaking on the 2 Angry Men podcast, Geragos said Diddy would have a target on his back, with threats of sexual and violent assaults being a real concern. Those fears arent unfounded, Diddys team told the court during his sentencing that another inmate had once planned to attack him with a knife, and that he had woken up to a blade pressed against his neck while in custody. Now settling into his new environment, Diddys projected release date is May 8, 2028, according to the Bureau of Prisons. However, that date could change depending on conduct, rehabilitation programs, and other factors during his incarceration.
