A 43-year-old man has been arrested after bludgeoning his elderly parents to d3ath before attempting to commit su!cide in South Africa. The incident occurred in Ndwedwe - Kwazulu Natal on Tuesday afternoon, November 25, 2025. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), officers received the call for assistance from a local councillor at 13:26 seeking immediate assistance after receiving information that and elderly couple where m8rdered in their home hours earlier. The councillor said the suspect prevented neighbours from providing assistance, remaining at the door of the home armed with a knife. Reaction Officers & Paramedics were dispatched to the Thafamasi Area in Ndwedwe - KZN approx. 33 kilometer from the RUSA Headquarters to provide the urgent medical assistance need to save the couple that was bleeding profusely, RUSA said in a statement. "Reaction Officers met with police officers from Ndwedwe SAPS in the area and continued the search for the home. "The scene was located and the son was arrested before officers entered a rondavale and found both occupants lying in a pool of blood. "Paramedics declared Phumzile Rachel Ngcobo (74) and Mziwamandla Ngcobo (79) deceased. They suffered multiple stab wounds and their faces were bludgeoned. "A knife and logs/firewood used in the m8rder were recovered in the rondavel. "The son was restrained and treated for self-inflicted st@b wounds after he attempted to take his own life. It could not be confirmed if he suffers from mental health issues.
