Bayelsa police order mental health evaluation on Inspector who brutally assaulted his children over witchcraft allegations

The Bayelsa State Police Command has announced that Inspector Sunday Ideh, who subjected his three children to inhumane treatment, will undergo a mental health evaluation to determine his psychological state before facing criminal prosecution. LIB reported that Inspector Ideh was arrested over the weekend for assaulting his three children over allegations of witchcraft.  Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Sanusi Mohammed, confirmed the arrest when members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), led by its Vice Chairman, Vivien Brisibe, and the Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Bayelsa State Branch, Dr. Boma Miebaiwho, visited the command headquarters in Yenagoa. Mohammed described the suspect as a previously upright officer before the incident but assured that the case would not be swept under the carpet and that the erring officer would be diligently prosecuted.
