Kano Hisbah arrests seven suspected cross dressers over "immoral activities"

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested seven young people accused of cross-dressing and engaging in immoral acts at a popular spot along Zoo Road in Kano Municipal.  The Deputy Commander General of the board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, confirmed the arrest to Radio Nigeria on Tuesday, November 18. According to Abubakar, the suspects are under 23 years old and were apprehended after a good Samaritan alerted Hisbah about suspicious activities at the location. The informant reported that young men often gathered at the joint, and different vehicles regularly arrived to pick them up.  Preliminary findings showed that the suspects came from Kogi, Bauchi and Kano states.  Sheikh Mujahid also said Hisbah operatives arrested a young man and a woman who were found together inside a tricycle during the operation.  In another case, a missing young lady was traced to Sokoto and reunited with her parents.  He added that the board will seal off the joint for allegedly harbouring underage youths involved in immoral behaviour.  "The suspects and the operators of the facility will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further actions, he said.  Sheikh Mujahid restated Hisbahs commitment to tackling social vices in Kano and urged residents to report any suspicious activity to the board or other authorities.
