Nigeria among favorites to win 2025 AFCON  - Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan

Former Black Stars of Ghana forward, Asamoah Gyan has named the Super Eagles of Nigeria among his picks to win the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco. Nigeria, who have won the continental showpiece three times, lost to Cote dIvoire in the final of the 2023 edition, but many have tipped them to go all the way in Morocco next month. Gyan has now joined those with that school of thought, especially as the Super Eagles look to seek redemption after failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in North America. Gyan, who was among those who attended the 2025 CAF awards in Rabat, named Nigeria, Cote dIvoire, and Morocco as the main contenders for the 2025 AFCON tournament. I think weve got a lot of giants who are going there, the 39-year-old reacted to a question on the Red Carpet. Ghana is out, which we were very disappointed by, but thats okay, we qualified for the World Cup, unlike some other nations, yes. Nigeria did well, they were close the last time. Ivory Coast did well; we have a lot of teams. Morocco is also a strong contender, and theyre doing well.  I will say these three countries, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Morocco are my picks to win the AFCON 2025, Ghanas record goalscorer concluded. The 2025 AFCON will take place between Sunday, December 21, 2025, and Sunday, January 18, 2026, marking the first time the tournament has taken place over the Christmas and New Year period. Nigeria are placed in Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
