The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial k!ller and prison escapee after he attempted to sell a phone belonging to one of his victim, Christabel Egedefe, in Agbor, Ika Local Government Area of the state, LIB reported that 26-year-old Christabel was found m8rdered in her apartment in Agbor. The spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, November 19, said the suspect, Michael Ezenwai escaped from the Oko Correctional Centre during the EndSARS jailbreak in 2020. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was part of the syndicate that r@ped and m8rdered a 200-level student of UNIBEN, Uwaila Omorzua. According to Edafe, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agbor, on October 24 received information that one Michael Ezenwai was attempting to sell a suspected stolen phone. Officers were immediately mobilised, and the suspect was arrested at the scene. During interrogation, Ezenwai initially claimed he had brought the phone from Libya. However, the device later rang, and a caller identified it as belonging to her sister, Christabel Egedefe. Acting on this new information, the DPO led operatives to Christabels residence, where she was found d3ad. Confronted with the discovery, Ezenwai confessed to m8rdering the young woman during a robbery at her home on 23 October. He told police he k!lled her when she resisted handing over the keys to her motorcycle, after which he stole her mobile phones. On the 24th of October 2025, the DPO Agbor received a complaint that one Michael Ezenwai was trying to sell a suspected stolen phone. The DPO swiftly mobilized operatives to the scene and immediately arrested the suspect. Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed that he brought the phone from Libya, the statement read. "Later that same day, the phone rang, and the caller stated that the phone belonged to her sister, Christabel Egedefe. Upon the strength of this information, the DPO and team proceeded to the house of the said Christabel and discovered her d3ad in her apartment. "At the Point, the suspect confessed to the m8rder of the victim, Christabel Egedefe, aged 26 years, and initially lied that the father of the deceased had asked him to do it. "Upon further interrogation, the suspect changed his statement, stating that he was only trying to indict the father of the victim. "He then stated that he went on a robbery operation at her house on the 23rd of October 2025, and murdered her when she refused to let go of her motorcycle keys and also made away with her mobile phones. "Preliminary investigation later revealed that the suspect is a serial murderer and was part of the syndicate that r@ped and m8rdered Uwaila Omorzua, a 200-level student of UNIBEN, who was murdered in the church when she went to study in the year 2020. The suspect further stated that he escaped from Oko correctional centre during the End SARS 2020 jailbreak. Suspect is in custody, and investigation is ongoing.
