A Florida woman has been arrested in connection with the death of one of her ex-husbands and is also under investigation in the fatal shooting of another ex-husband that occurred on the same day, authorities said. Susan Avalon, 51, was arrested this week in connection with the death of a 54-year-old man at a residence in Bradenton. The mans name has not been publicly released. According to a statement from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responding to the Bradenton home on Wednesday, December 17, found the man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital, where he later died. At a news conference on Thursday, the Manatee County sheriff said the victim told officers who arrived at the scene that his ex-wife whom he had divorced about 11 years earlier was possibly responsible for the shooting. Authorities arrested Avalon later that evening in Citrus County, about 125 miles from Manatee County. Investigators said they learned Avalon had taken a Panera soup from a nearby store without paying and then went to the victims home. Matching information provided by the victims teenage daughter who described a vehicle and an individual outside the residence helped deputies identify Avalon as a suspect. When officers arrived at Avalons residence in Citrus County, investigators observed her cleaning her vehicle with bleach, the sheriff said at Thursdays briefing. Police said that when they approached Avalon and told her they wanted to speak with her about her ex-husband, she responded, Which one? That response prompted authorities to check on her second ex-husband at a residence in Tampa. He was found dead from gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff. The Manatee County Sheriffs Office later announced that there is credible evidence linking Avalon to the homicide in Tampa. Investigators believe the Tampa killing occurred before the shooting in Manatee County. Avalon has been charged with second-degree homicide in the Manatee County case.
