The first clear photograph of Sajid Akram the gunman accused of k!lling 15 people and injuring 40 more in the Bondi Beach terror attack has been shared. It emerged today that Akram's family members had no idea of the 50-year-old man's "radical mindset" or "circumstances that led to his radicalisation". As a result of this, he and son Naveed, 24, opened fire at a Jewish Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, Dec. 14. The terror attack was said to be inspired by ISIS. Akram was shot de@d by police while Naveed has since been charged with 59 offences including 15 counts of murdr after waking from a coma on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Police have now said Akram was from Hyderabad, a tech and pharma city in India, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He migrated to Australia on a student visa in 1998 before transitioning to a partner visa three years later following his marriage to Naveed's mother, Venera. Although he made six trips back to India in the years since, Akram did not return when his father passed away in 2017. His family there, though, had no suspicion of the man's extreme beliefs, police have confirmed. An Indian Police spokesperson said: "The family members have expressed no knowledge of his [Sajid's] radical mindset or activities, nor of the circumstances that led to his radicalisation. The factors that led to the radicalisation of Sajid Akram appear to have no connection with India or any local influence in Telangana." The trips back to India, including a journey in 2022, were for family reasons and property matters, said authorities. However, contact with family became more limited in recent years, it is understood. The new information comes as a photograph the first clear image of Akram has emerged one week after the atrocity. Although it is unclear when this was taken, it has been widely used by broadcasting stations across Australia today as the investigation continues. Australia's Prime Minister was booed and jeered at the scene yesterday. Anthony Albanese was visibly shocked by his reception as he arrived at the event to mourn the 15 people k!lled. At least one of the crowd shouted "you've got blood on your hands" at the memorial. Mr Albanese, though, has insisted he and Australian officials continue to press on with the probe, and remain in contact with Indian authorities. Akram's immediate family still live in Hyderabad, where his elder brother is a doctor, according to local media. Australian authorities are also investigating a trip the father and son took to the Philippines before the alleged terror attack. Philippines immigration officials have confirmed the pair travelled to the south-east Asian country on November 1.
