Justice Lateef Owolabi of the Samuel Ilori Magistrates Court in Ogba, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of a 70-year-old man, Godfrey Iriekpe, and one Aliechem Emmanuel for allegedly def!ling his 17-year-old daughter. The case of defilement was filed against the duo by the Lagos State Police Command. The court remanded the suspects in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for carnal knowledge of the girl identified as Merit while she was 17 in 2023 and had carnal knowledge of the girl again in May and November 2025. It was revealed that whenever Iriekpe sent out his daughter for refusing him, she would run to their neighbours apartment, and after a while, the neighbour started having forceful carnal knowledge of her. According to the judge, the suspect committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015. Justice Owolabi adjourned the case till January 15, 2026 for continuation.
