Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has explained that he left the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress to reciprocate President Bola Tinubus role in stabilising the state. Fubara said aligning Rivers State with the Federal Government was necessary, adding that his decision was part of strengthening cooperation with the centre. He gave the explanation during his reception by the APC at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where he officially filled out the partys membership form and received his membership card. The delegation was led by the state APC Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, alongside the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo. Speaking after receiving his card, Fubara said, I took this decision as my return of favour; my own clearing the bush to ensure that his re-election in 2027 will be easy and smooth in this state. Now that we are all in one party we have always supported, but from different flats we are now in one flat. The job is easier to fulfil what we have promised the President. Fubara also pledged to strengthen the APC in Rivers State, assuring party leaders that he would fully support and maintain the party structure. He said, I want to assure you that we will do everything to keep APC as the main and active progressive party in Rivers State. From this moment, every need of the exco and the party becomes my responsibility. The governor added that the state must prepare to deliver overwhelming support for the President, saying the task ahead includes spreading the Presidents message, resolving political resistance, and ensuring a smooth victory in Rivers State.
