Mob beats man to d3ath for k!lling his mother over inheritance in Niger State

A 25-year-old man, Adamu Abdullahi, was lynched to d3ath in Suleja, Niger State, for allegedly k!lling his mother, Hauwa Sanusi, over dispute on inheritance. The incident occurred on Saturday, December 13, 2025 following a misunderstanding between the young man and his mother over his share of his late fathers property, which the mother had kept in her custody to prevent it from being wasted away. Sources told Daily Trust that the suspect, who had just returned after being away for a long period, attacked his mother in the wee hours of Saturday, st@bbing her several times with a knife. A source, Ibrahim Hassan, told our correspondent that the womans screams attracted neighbours, who apprehended the suspect as he attempted to flee and subsequently lynched him. From what we gathered, there was a misunderstanding between the late mother and her son over an inheritance. We learnt that after the d3ath of their father, the property was shared and the mother held on to his share believing that it would be wasted away," he explained. So, the young man just came back because he was not even residing in Suleja. Nobody knew where he had relocated to. So, he just came back and attacked his mother. It was mothers screaming that attracted the neighbours who rushed and found the mother in a pool of blood. Upon sighting the people, he attempted to flee and he was held and seeing the condition the mother was in, some youths started beating mercilessly before he was eventually taken away by the police. The woman was actually his biological mother." The spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident but did not provide details on the cause of the misunderstanding. On December 13, 2025 at about 1.30am, a report received indicated that one Hawa Sanusi 45yrs of Suleja Area was k!lled by her son Adamu Abdullahi, 25yrs, with a knife during a misunderstanding between them. It was further reported that as a result of this, a group of mob attacked the suspect and he was lynched to d3ath, the PPRO stated. Police operatives of A Div Suleja moved to the scene, while the mob members took to their heels, corpses evacuated, the knife was also recovered and effort is ongoing to arrest the mob members.
