A moment of cultural recognition unfolded at the Vatican on December 24 during the Christmas Vigil Mass, as the Igbo language featured prominently in the liturgy. One of the intentions during the Prayer of the Faithful at the Christmas Vigil Mass celebrated by Pope Leo XIV at St Peters Basilica was read in Igbo, acknowledging the contributions of Igbo Catholics within the global Church. The inclusion of the Igbo language highlighted the diversity of the Catholic faithful worldwide and underscored the Churchs emphasis on universality during the Christmas celebration at the Vatican. In addition, an Igbo couple participated in the Eucharistic Procession, joining others in presenting the offertory gifts to the Pope during the Mass.
