Individual accused of assaulting his teenage daughter in Taraba for allegedly 'associating with young mans'

Taraba State Police Command has reportedly arrested one Mr. Haggai Ishaku following allegations that he assaulted his daughter, Rachael Haggai Ishaku.  The minor reportedly sustained serious injuries, including a broken hand, after an assault at their residence behind the NLC Secretariat near Shimo FM. The arrest followed the intervention of human rights activist Abdulmumin Imam.  The incident, allegedly triggered by the girls attendance at a church crossover service, has drawn public outrage. The suspect is currently in custody at the GRA Police Division, Jalingo.  During questioning, Mr. Haggai told the police that he had warned his daughter that she was too young to have a boyfriend and accused her of associating with boys against his instructions.  He further claimed that during the New Year crossover period, she did not attend a church crossover night but went elsewhere. However, the daughter, in an interview with Abdulmumin Imam and the police, refuted her fathers claims, stating that she attended the crossover night service.  She also alleged that her father is in the habit of restraining them before beating them.   .
