

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Benue State Command, has apprehended six suspected cable vandals. The spokesperson of the Corps, SC EA Michael, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, January 5, 2025 said the suspects were arrested for suspected case of criminal conspiracy and vandalization of PHCH/TCN cables at Apir opposite NNPC Depot. Benue State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in her determined efforts in protecting critical national assets and infrastructures in Benue State, conducted a coordinated surveillance operations in collaboration with local youths at Apir settlement leading to the arrest of six(6) on the 28th December, 2025, the statement read. The suspects are; 1.Shiaondo David Iorshenge (prime suspect), Terungwa Asombo, Nomyar Bemdoo, Tyoakura Apino Christopher, Terhemba Iortuhwa Victor and Musa Abdullahi. The State Commandant, CC LA Bitrus earlier gave a stern warning in her Yuletide deployment press release to criminal elements intending to take advantage of the Yuletide season to vandalize critical national assets and infrastructures. The Commandant commended the officers and men for their commitment and diligence to duty, and emphasized that the command is deepening her collaboration and synergy with communities across Benue State. She acknowledged the pivotal roles of host communities in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructures, and tasked them to mount surveillance on this assets of Government that are directly beneficial to them. "Let me further sound a word of caution to this enemies of national security, Benue State will not be a safe heaven for your nefarious activities, for us the protection of critical national assets and infrastructures is non negotiable"," she said. Investigation are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
