Yobe Hisbah bans physical interaction, private conversations between opposite s8xes in commercial vehicles and public gatherings

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has issued a directive, banning physical interactions and private conversations between persons of opposite genders in commercial tricycles, motorcycles and at public gatherings, stressing that such activities contradict the teachings of Sharia.   The Commission made this known in a statement on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.  According to the statement, the directive comes from the office of the State Commander of the Hisbah Commission, Dr. Muhammad Yawudi Kale, with the approval of the Chairman of the Yobe State Hisbah Commission, Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar. "The Yobe State Hisbah Commission wishes to inform the public and issue a warning regarding activities that contradict the teachings of Sharia, the statement read.  Among the matters the Commission is cautioning against are: 1. Reckless driving or moving in vehicles, especially in public during weddings or Sallah celebrations. 2. Physical interaction between men and women on vehicles, particularly on Keke Napep, motorcycles, or at public gatherings. 3. Private conversations under the pretext of chatting between men and women, especially in ways that Sharia does not approve. This directive comes from the office of the State Commander of the Hisbah Commission, Dr. Muhammad Yawudi Kale, with the approval of the Chairman of the Yobe State Hisbah Commission, Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar. The Hisbah Commission further called on parents and the wider community to support the enforcement of these rules in order to "preserve the moral upbringing of our children."  .
