Breaking News: Niger State Police Nab Three Suspected Livestock Thieves, Rescue Stolen Goat!
In a major breakthrough, the Niger State Police Command has successfully apprehended three individuals suspected of being part of a notorious livestock theft syndicate. According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, the command's spokesperson, the arrests were made possible thanks to a valuable tip-off received on March 16th, 2026.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Ali, 37, of Maraba market, Shuaibu Ibrahim, 37, of Ado Maraba, and Ilyasu Rabiu from Nasarawa, were driving a red Volkswagen Golf vehicle with registration number BWR 350 CL when they were intercepted by police operatives at the Tungan-Shanu area of Maje. Upon further investigation, the trio was found to be in possession of a stolen goat, which they eventually confessed to having taken from the area.
During their interrogation, the suspects revealed that their syndicate had been responsible for a string of livestock thefts targeting domestic animals such as goats, rams, and sheep across the FCT, Nasarawa, and Niger State. The Niger State Police Command has since charged the suspects to court for prosecution. This successful operation is a testament to the dedication of the police in protecting the community and its livestock.
