A N2,000 Bride Price Can't Guarantee a Home-Cooked Meal, Man Says in Oyo Court

In a surprising turn of events, a man named Ayinla is now suing his wife, Mosunmola, for allegedly neglecting their household responsibilities, particularly when it comes to cooking meals. The couple's marital issues have led them to the Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, where they are seeking a resolution to their problems.

Ayinla claims that his wife's communication style is overly talkative and unbearable for him. He paid a relatively modest bride price of N2,000 for Mosunmola, but now says that their marriage hasn't been a happy one. Ayinla's wife, on the other hand, has accused him of living an irresponsible lifestyle, often coming home late at night and leaving their children's needs to her to handle.

Mosunmola has stated that their relationship was strained throughout their eight-year marriage, with constant quarrels leading to multiple separations. Ayinla has agreed to the dissolution of their marriage, citing his wife's perceived neglect of his welfare and her inability to cook for him. In her testimony, Mosunmola revealed that Ayinla failed to fulfill the traditional marital rites, leaving their union without any meaningful progress or shared possessions.
