Boko Haram Violence Claims Four Lives in Borno Police Station Assault



Tragedy struck in Borno State when suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists launched a devastating attack on the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters at around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The assault left a trail of destruction and four brave police personnel dead. Inspector Samuel Ezekiel, Inspector Sanusi Mohammed, Police Constable Bitrus Luka, and Police Constable Shaibu Bukar lost their lives in the battle. Inspector Ezekiel was stationed at Nganzai Division, while Inspector Mohammed was on special duty from the 58 PMF Lafia detachment. Police Constables Luka and Bukar were part of the crack squad in Maiduguri.

The attackers, who stormed the police formation in large numbers, employed Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs) and other advanced weaponry, causing significant damage to a section of the station and partially setting an unserviceable Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) ablaze. ASP Kenneth Daso, spokesperson for the State Police Command, described the level of sophistication displayed by the attackers. Following the attack, Commissioner of Police CP Naziru Abdulmajid paid an on-the-spot visit to the scene, addressed officers, and offered condolences to the families of the fallen personnel. He also commended those who fought bravely despite being vastly outnumbered.
