Comedian Mr Macaroni is speaking out against FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who made some concerning comments during a media chat with journalists. The issue started when Channels TV host Seun Okinbaloye questioned whether Nigeria is becoming a one-party state, a notion that Wike strongly opposes. Okinbaloye expressed his concerns about a one-party system on Channels TV's Politics Today, saying it would make the democratic process dull and uninteresting.
Okinbaloye pointed out that a competitive system is what makes elections exciting, and that a one-party state would be detrimental to Nigeria's democracy. He also expressed his disappointment that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership was derecognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following a court ruling. Okinbaloye believes that this development could have serious implications for the country's democratic future.
Seun Okinbaloye's comments didn't go unnoticed, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike responded by saying that he would have shot Okinbaloye if he had the opportunity. Wike took issue with Okinbaloye's questions on national television, which he felt showed bias in the leadership crisis affecting the ADC. When asked about his reaction to Okinbaloye's questions, Wike said, "I was thoroughly surprised yesterday when I was watching Seun's Politics Today. If there was any way to break the screen, I would have shot him."
