Maiduguri Woman Detained for Alleged Money Laundering Through Unusual Means
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken into custody Fatima Muhammed, a resident of Maiduguri, following an incident where she was seen using a N500 Naira note to clean her nose in a viral TikTok video. The footage, which went viral on social media, caught the attention of EFCC operatives who promptly initiated an investigation.
Upon tracing the suspect's location, operatives of the Commission arrested her in the Maiduguri metropolis area on Tuesday, April 7, 2025. The suspect is currently being held at the Maiduguri detention facility for further investigation. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the extent of the alleged money laundering.
As a result, the suspect is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation. The EFCC is committed to upholding the law and preventing financial crimes in the country.
