A shocking incident has unfolded in Jigawa State, Nigeria, involving a 27-year-old man named Kabiru Nuhu, who is accused of setting his 60-year-old father ablaze in a brutal attack. The victim, Nuhu Bakanike, sadly passed away after the incident, which took place in Kazaure Local Government Area on April 1, 2026. According to the Jigawa State Police Command's spokesperson, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, preliminary investigations revealed that Kabiru poured petrol on his father's body and set him on fire.
The incident was reported to the police at around 6:30 am on April 1, with the victim being rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. However, the victim's injuries were too severe, and he was later referred to a higher medical center for further treatment, but sadly succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
SP Shiisu Lawan Adam confirmed the arrest of Kabiru Nuhu, who was found with fresh fire burns and wounds on his forehead, arms, and toes. The police spokesperson stated that the incident was a tragic and deeply disturbing one, involving the alleged killing of a father by his biological son. The Jigawa State Police Command is currently investigating the matter further to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
