The disturbing footage showed the officers stopping the vehicle the two men were in, ordering them out, and asking them to follow to another location for a search. When one of the men questioned the unusual procedure and started filming, the officers grew agitated and told him to stop recording.
This incident sparked widespread outrage among Nigerians, with many condemning the officers' behavior. In response, the police complaint response unit took to their X handle to assure the public that the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed the DPO of Satellite Town, Lagos, to produce the officers in Abuja on April 8 for disciplinary proceedings.
The police made it clear that the officers in question have been identified and will face the consequences of their actions. They're seeking the public's support and trust as they work to combat impunity. The post read, "Dear members of the public, the policemen in the viral video have been identified and appropriate disciplinary actions await them accordingly. We seek your support and trust as we fight impunity to a standstill."
