A Heartwarming Rescue in the Capital: Police Save a New Mother and Her Baby
In a remarkable display of compassion and quick thinking, the FCT Police Command has successfully rescued a mentally challenged woman and her newborn baby from a precarious situation in the Kwali area of the Federal Capital Territory. According to SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the command, the dramatic rescue unfolded on April 3 at approximately 12:30 AM, when police officers from the Rapid Response Squad stumbled upon the unexpected scene while on patrol in Kwaita Village, Kwali Area Council.
As soon as they received the report, the Officer in Charge of the Gender Unit, Kwali Division, sprang into action, mobilizing a team to the scene. With the mother and baby safely in tow, they were rushed to the General Hospital in Kwali, where medical attention was administered. Thankfully, both the mother and her newborn were in stable condition and subsequently discharged from the hospital.
In line with standard procedures, the Officer in Charge of Welfare, Kwali Area Council, Mr. Sadiq Kwali, was contacted to take over the care of the mother and child. As a result, they were relocated to the FCT Children's Home in Wako, Gwagwalada Area Council, where they are now receiving the proper care and support they need.
