A Devastating Loss: Nigerian National Passes Away in Indian Prison Following Cardiac Arrest

Tragedy struck on Monday, April 6, 2026, as a 66-year-old Nigerian national, identified as Solomon, sadly lost his life after suffering a cardiac arrest at a hospital in Greater Noida. Solomon had been an undertrial prisoner in the Gautam Budh Nagar District Jail, located in Luksar village, since May 31, 2023, when he was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to the jail authorities, Solomon had been battling chronic health issues, including high blood pressure and severe kidney disease, for quite some time. On Friday morning, his condition took a turn for the worse when he suddenly experienced breathing difficulties inside the jail premises. The jail staff sprang into action, rushing him to the Govt Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, the doctors were unable to save him, and Solomon was declared dead at the hospital.

As per standard protocol, police officials have stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed after completion of mandatory legal formalities. Solomon's family members and the intelligence department have been notified, and further legal procedures are being carried out accordingly. The jail administration had been providing Solomon with medical treatment for his ailments at various hospitals in Delhi and Meerut prior to his death, but his health condition had remained critical for some time.
