A recent spate of attacks in Plateau State has led to demands for accurate identification of perpetrators. A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Dickson Chollom, representing Barkin Ladi Constituency, has called for transparency in the aftermath of the incidents. Chollom, who chairs the House Committee on Works and Transport, recently visited Heipang District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, where three lives were lost and one person critically injured.
During the visit, Chollom disclosed that one suspect had been arrested and made confessional statements, revealing the identities of his accomplices. This development has led Chollom to reject the use of the term "unknown gunmen" in describing the attacks. Instead, he emphasized that the perpetrators are now known, and the matter should not be treated as routine.
In addition, Chollom called on security agencies to make public the confessions and findings of their investigations, including the identities of suspects and their places of detention. He stressed that this would help assure the public that justice is being pursued. Meanwhile, residents of Barkin Ladi and Plateau State are awaiting the outcome of the investigations and the promised transparency from the authorities.
