Jungle Justice: Suspected transformer vandal set ablaze by mob in Calabar

A man accused of being a transformer vandal was lynched by an angry mob at Atu by Palm Street in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State.  According to Cross River Watch, the incident occurred on December 8, 2025.  A resident said the man was apprehended while allegedly trying to vandalize the electricity transformer that serves the community.  The intervention was said to have happened swiftly as residents raised alarm over the attempted act.  A suspected thief was reportedly caught around midnight at Atu Street by Palm Street while attempting to tamper with a power transformer. Community members notified the authorities, and the situation is now under investigation. Everyone is advised to stay alert and report suspicious activities to the police, the resident narrated.  Residents who woke up the next morning said they were shocked to find the charred remains of the suspect lying on the roadside, even as normal activities gradually returned to the area. Authorities have repeatedly warned residents against jungle justice, urging communities to report suspects to law enforcement agencies rather than taking laws into their hands.  See graphic photo below       The post Jungle Justice: Suspected transformer vandal set ablaze by mob in Calabar appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
