Unknown assailants suspected to be armed herders, launched a midnight attack on the official residence of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Aujara, Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State, k!lling a police constable and injuring another. According to Nigerian Tribune, the attackers arrived unexpectedly and overpowered the officers on duty, leading to the d3ath of Police Constable Nura Garba Jahun and injuries to the other officer on duty. Constable Nura was confirmed d3ad at Jahun General Hospital and has since been buried according to Islamic rites. Family members expressed deep shock over the incident. His father, Malam Garba Jahun, described the late officer as gentle and disciplined. He had not spent long in the service. May his soul rest in perfect peace, he said. Speaking on the attack, he added that the family had yet to receive full details from the police authorities. We dont know the cause. They came, condoled with us and left. Maybe later we will know more," he added. Sources in the community also said nothing was stolen from the residence during the attack. When contacted on Monday, the spokesperson of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said he had not been officially briefed on the incident. The District Head of Aujara, Alhaji Aminu Dankade, confirmed the k!lling in a post on his official Facebook page, where he prayed for the repose of the deceased officer.
