Rivers Governor as Tempus Fugit - Media personality Rufai Oseni digs up old watch video of FCT minister swearing in the name of God that he won't chose a successor after leaving

Media personality Rufai Oseni has shared an old video of Nyesom Wike, in which the former Rivers State governor affirmed that he has no power to choose a successor after leaving office. In the clip, Wike who is currently FCT's minister is heard saying, The day I leave as Governor of Rivers State, in the name of Almighty God, I have no power to choose a successor because the people have the right to decide who leads them. Speaking to journalists at the time, Wike argued that the idea of a departing governor handpicking a successor or playing godfather politics can only happen in Lagos and not Rivers State. According to him, such a political culture would be difficult to replicate in Rivers State, unlike Lagos State. He added that leadership is temporary, noting, As governor, I will come and I will go. Wike also referenced Peter Odili, saying Odili served as governor and exited office without attempting to impose a successor. The resurfaced video has reignited online debate about political godfatherism and succession politics, especially in light of current political developments surrounding Wike and Rivers State. Watch the video below..      View this post on Instagram
