Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, have uncovered a hidden arms cache during a security operation in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. The operation, carried out on January 4, followed intelligence on the movement of an associate linked to a suspected criminal kingpin identified as John Ngata. Soldiers mounted a roadblock in Zaki-Biam, Benue State, where the suspect was intercepted without resistance. After questioning, the suspect led the troops to a concealed armoury in Amadu village, Takum LGA. Items recovered include 13 AK-47 rifles, 39 magazines, 690 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and four hand grenades. The military said the weapons cache was professionally destroyed after recovery to prevent future use..
