Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang recently met with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential Villa in Abuja to brief him on the recent unfortunate incident that took place in Angwam community last Sunday, March 29. The governor revealed that the identities of the individuals responsible for the violence remain unknown, a fact he shared with journalists during a Q&A session on Wednesday, April 1.
According to Governor Mutfwang, the situation in Angwam has been brought under control, with authorities evacuating the deceased to the mortuary and some families already laying their loved ones to rest. To maintain peace and order, the state government had initially imposed a curfew, which was later relaxed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Unfortunately, some looters attempted to disrupt the peace again, but security forces were able to restore calm by mid-afternoon.
When asked about the possible motivations behind the attack, Governor Mutfwang pointed out that it's often challenging to pinpoint a single reason for such incidents. He suggested that the attack could be the result of a complex mix of factors, which may only become clear once authorities are able to interrogate both the victims and the attackers. As it stands, the governor expressed his disappointment that the perpetrators have yet to be apprehended, and he condemned the barbaric act as a form of criminality.
