In a recent development, a Federal High Court in Abuja has made a ruling that's left many talking. On April 2, Justice Mohammed Umar delivered a judgment that dismissed a lawsuit filed by politician and publisher Omoyele Sowore. The lawsuit was against the Department of State Services (DSS), its Director General, and Meta Platforms Incorporated.
Sowore had taken issue with the removal of a Facebook post that he made on August 26, 2025. In the post, he labeled President Bola Tinubu a criminal, claiming that he had lied about the state of corruption in Nigeria. The post read, 'This criminal actually went to Brazil to state that there is no more corruption in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!' Following the removal of the post, Sowore's entire Facebook account was deactivated.
However, Justice Mohammed Umar has ruled that Sowore's case lacked merit, and as a result, the lawsuit has been dismissed. The judgment means that the Department of State Services (DSS), its Director General, and Meta Platforms Incorporated will not be held accountable for the removal of Sowore's Facebook post.
