The Federal Government has come under fire from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for prioritizing security at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja over vulnerable areas in need of protection. According to ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, it's striking that the government didn't deploy armoured vehicles to protect residents of Plateau State when security concerns were at their peak just days ago. Instead, they were sent to INEC headquarters in the nation's capital to safeguard against peaceful protesters. As Abdullahi pointed out, the government's priorities are clearly misguided, stating "Show me your priorities, and I will show you who you are." This harsh criticism comes amidst a backdrop of heightened political tension following INEC's decision to derecognise the ADC leadership, which is closely tied to influential figures such as Senator David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola. Despite this setback, the ADC is forging ahead with its planned congresses and national convention. In a television interview, Abdullahi reiterated that the party had fulfilled all necessary procedural requirements, including giving INEC a mandatory 21-day notice, and will proceed with the activities regardless of the commission's participation.
