The command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has arrested a suspected kidnapper and successfully rescued a victim in a joint operation. The incident occurred on April 10, 2026, when a resident of Isua Akoko, Ahmadu, reported to the police that one of his relatives had gone to Ipesi Akoko for cattle rearing but failed to return home.
Acting swiftly on the report, the police initiated a coordinated intelligence-driven operation, which led to the successful rescue of the kidnapped victim. The victim narrated that he was abducted at night by three suspected kidnappers, but while trying to resist his captors, he inflicted a head injury on one of the suspects. The police, acting on credible information obtained from the victim, mobilized and stormed Obasanjo Motor Park, Isua, where a suspicious individual with a visible head injury was apprehended.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being part of the kidnapping gang. The victim later positively identified the suspect, particularly noting the injury inflicted on him. The victim has since been taken to the hospital for medical attention, while the suspect has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
